Job Description

This position supports establishing and maintaining methods of manufacturing primarily for the Light Duty Assembly and Test production cells.  Key tasks include: advising equipment selection, driving action to improve safety, quality and production, providing daily production support to Machine Operator, as well as managing key documents (Operating Instructions, PFMEAs, Product Routings, etc.). This position also serves as technical and/or project leader for large projects in the plant.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following. 

  • Prepare Product Routings, Operating Instructions, Control Plans and PFMEA documentation
  • Drive continuous improvement and support Plant Goals:  Safety, Quality, Lean, OTD, and Financial expectations as a key member of Value Stream team (VSM)
  • Support customer quality expectations and execute assigned corrective action activities (8D)
  • Process Manufacturing and Design Engineering changes per plant procedures
  • Authorize non-conforming material disposition and rework procedures using plant MRB process
  • Specify tooling and gaging for manufacturing and assy/test operations
  • Lead problem solving activities and develop solutions to meet VSM goals
  • Investigate and recommend manufacturing improvements to support annual cost-out goals
  • Lead project teams as assigned and manage related projects to achieve VSM goals
  • Provide technical assistance and daily support to shop floor employees 

Background & Skills

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited university
  • Minimum 2 years of industry experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project Management skills
  • Experience in large capital project execution
  • Experience using 3D modeling software; tool design, manufacturing cells, plant layout, etc.
  • Exposure to Six Sigma and Lean concepts and methodologies
  • Has coordinated activities related to perishable tooling, fixtures and gaging with manufacturing services
  • Understands how to develop Manufacturing costs

 

Position Criteria:

  • Experience utilizing project management skills 
  • Proficiency with various computer software such as MS Office, Minitab, Labview, ProE, AutoCAD
  • Exposure to statistical process capability studies (Cpk) and related process controls
  • Exposure to perishable tooling, fixtures and gaging in a machining and/or assembly environment
  • Exposure to Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodology
