Job Description

As a Systems Engineer, you will create hydraulics-based mechatronic systems and apply them to modern machinery.  Using systems engineering principles, you will develop control systems that make that machinery easier to use, more efficient, and more productive.  You will be a part of a talented team, report to an engineering manager, and work with customers to ensure that the solutions meet their needs.
 

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following. 

  • Develop hydraulic-based mechatronic systems in the context of a modern piece of machinery
  • Lead the system development lifecycle of a solution, keeping customer needs at the forefront from the beginning (establishing key customer requirements) until the end (machine validation) of a project
  • Work in the digital domain through the creation of computer-based models and simulations (Matlab/Simulink) of machine duty-cycles, systems, sub-systems, and components
  • Work in the physical domain by integrating, commissioning, calibrating, and evaluating machine builds
  • Solve complex problems, producing differentiated intellectual property for Danfoss
  • The position is based in Eden Prairie, MN, with occasional travel required (up to 10%), including international destinations

Required (basic) qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution

 

Preferred qualifications

  • Master of Science Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Experience with embedded controls development on mechatronic systems (Matlab, C, Plus+1)
  • Dynamic modeling experience (prefer Simulink or AMESim)
  • Hands-on experience with machine design and implementation
  • Project management experience across a global organization
  • DFSS training
  • Experience working with a global team
  • Experience with functional safety requirements and systems

 

Job Criteria

  • Familiar with the operation of ag, construction, material handling and industrial machinery
  • Knowledge of a range of hydraulic components and systems
  • Risk management mindset, using tools such as FMEA to evaluate and mitigate technical risk
  • Comfort and effectiveness in working with customers, sales, marketing, technicians, and others
  • Strong project management, planning, and reporting skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving competency
  • Strong business acumen and customer-focused thought process
