Job Description

Danfoss Power Solutions in Scotland is seeking a talented and self-motivated Test Rig Development Engineer – Electrical to be working in a culture that fosters creativity and problem solving. 

Job Responsibilities

As our new Test Rig Development Engineer – Electrical, you will design, setup, realize & execute improvements to existing test rig systems, including, but not limited to, designing and acquiring appropriate hardware (e.g. fixtures, sensors, actuators), interfacing electrical or computer systems (e.g. data acquisition systems). You will also investigate / troubleshoot issues and implement corrective actions. Furthermore, you will:

 

  • Liaise and collaborate with the mechanical & hydraulic teams having experience with mechanical assembly and fabrication techniques
  • Create and strive towards a positive work environment by demonstrating and sharing functional and technical knowledge whilst maintaining high level of communications with cross-functional teams
  • Comply with Health & Safety (H&S) rules and practices

Background & Skills

To be considered for this position you should be at least BS7671:2018 qualified with a minimum of 5 years of practical hands-on experience in hydraulic test and validation environment. You have knowledge of power electronics, active front ends, 3 phase inverters and industrial controls, low voltage control units, data acquisition & instrumentation. 

 

You are familiar in hardware and software system integration, such as integration of new sensors, actuators into a new or existing test system. You can resolve complex issues in creative, efficient, and effective ways meeting aggressive schedules. You understand test rig requirements, specifications, and work with wider teams to establish instrumentation & control systems and strategies. You have knowledge of communication protocols (CAN, RS-232, TCP/IP, USB), can read and make electrical schematics, and engineering drawings.

 

On a more personal level, you are detail-oriented and precise. It would great if you’d be naturally interested and curious on how things work. You are creative self-starter with a “Can do” attitude and be self-motivated with the ability to work on their own as well as in a team.
