Job Description

The GL Team Lead is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the day-to-day R2R operations in SSC, ensuring compliance with accounting and financial procedures, facilitating efficient period-end activities. This role requires deep understanding of R2R processes and strong interpersonal skills to effectively manage and mentor the GL Accountants.

 

This person will lead and overall oversight of the GL Accountants team (approx. of 6 people), provide consistent leadership through regular meetings, trainings, effective objective setting, KPI improvement, people development, back up and succession planning. Responsibilities will also cover supervision of period-end close responsibilities, ensuring compliance with closing checklists (monthly/quarterly/annual) and timely, accurate completion of period-end activities.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Maintain strong controls ensuring all group policies and statutory requirements are followed. Review and approve daily transactional activities to maintain accuracy and compliance.
  • Review GL accounts close activities, including JE, recurring entries, FA depreciation, intercompany transactions reconciliation as part of the period-end close process.
  • Identify, develop, and implement improvements to existing processes, systems, and procedures in R2R processes (incl. continuous improvement culture) with the cooperation of SME and Global Process Owner.
  • Coordinate and support internal and external audit activities. Facilitate financial data preparation and address cross-functional team queries.
  • Being an operational backup (hands-on approach) – for Financial Reporting team, period end closing activities as well as accurate and timely preparation of IFRS Group & statutory reporting whenever required,
  • Close cooperation with other teams inside Finance function (AP, AR, GPO, Project Teams) to ensure smooth processes execution and effective financial support for business functions.

Background & Skills

The ideal candidate possesses these skills. 

  • 4- 5+ years of professional experience in accountancy/finance gained in international SSC/BPO environment,
  • 1,5 + years of proven experience with R2R team management (teams over 5 FTEs)
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance & accounting, Economics or recognized accounting certifications
  • Excellent General Accounting knowledge, best practices, processes, and internal controls, including solid understanding of financial systems and their impact on accounting and controls,
  • Statutory and IFRS reporting knowledge as an advantage,
  • Fluency in English, both verbal and in writing,
  • Preferable working experience in SAP Hana and HFM, user knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel skills (functions, pivot table) is a must,
  • An energetic driven professional with can do attitude and drive towards building and proposing new process solutions,
  • Demonstrated self-motivation, analytical, problem-solving skills, decision making and own initiative,
  • Strong ability to perform under pressure, multitask and prioritize workload to achieve objectives in a timely manner,
  • Good understanding on automation opportunities, experience in Lean implementation or leading Lean operations in SSC.
