The System Application Engineer Incubation is a senior, customer-facing applications engineering role that provides the hands-on technical layer of the Data Center Incubation Front-End team. This role provides the deep technical applications expertise required to translate Danfoss subsystem capabilities into specific customer deployments, to support proof-of-concept and qualification activities, and to resolve technical questions arising at the customer interface.
The System Application Engineer Incubation provides technical coverage within his dedicated region and works closely with Incubation business development, product and system engineering teams as well as with BU account managers.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Serve as the senior technical applications expert for Danfoss subsystems in customer-facing engagements across the assigned region, including hyperscale, chip manufacturer, OEM, and colocation data center customers. Provide expert-level responses to customer technical questions, deployment scenarios, and integration considerations.
- Translate Danfoss subsystem capabilities into specific customer deployment configurations, including Coolant Distribution Units, manifolds, quick-disconnect couplings, pumps, valves, and associated controls.Lead or support technical workshops, design review sessions, and integration discussions with customer engineering teams.
- Support the planning, execution, and documentation of customer proof-of-concept deployments of Danfoss subsystems. Contribute to qualification activities required by customers prior to formal subsystem adoption, including the preparation of qualification protocols, supporting data, and technical documentation.
- Serve as the principal technical interface between assigned customers and the engineering team, ensuring that field observations, deployment learnings, and customer technical concerns are captured and communicated effectively.Bring customer technical context into design decisions and validation activities.
- Work with business development team to ensure that detailed application-level insights are integrated into the broader intelligence base. Support detailed VoC collection for new concepts and to verify or falsify key assumptions.
- Act as the subject matter expert on all matters related to single phase and two-phase liquid cooling applications within hyperscale data centers, including primary and in-rack cooling solutions. Identified within and outside the team as a product and technical resource for thermal management applications.
- Lead the resolution of technical issues raised by customers during Incubation engagements, coordinating with internal engineering and the Laboratory team as required.
- Ensure successful pursuit of key business opportunities improving the quantity of RFQ wins. Engaging with customers and internal Danfoss groups to determine successful business solutions and overcome challenges.
- Interact with the manufacturing plants to understand their processes, capabilities, and work to resolve new business opportunity challenges.
- Ensure efficient and accurate processing of customer RFQ's in all regions globally. Ensure the optimal core products, cost accuracy, and manufacturing strategies are quoted, offering the customer the best value added solution.
- Own and coordinate when customers require changes of products or configurations.
- Train internal teams and customers about Incubation products, sub-systems and services
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline. A Master's degree is preferred.
- A minimum of eight (8) years of professional experience in applications engineering, field engineering, customer-facing technical roles, or product engineering, with substantial hands-on exposure to thermal management or fluid systems, prefered within data center Industry.
- Demonstrated track record of supporting customer technical engagements, including proof-of-concept deployments, qualification activities, or product integration support.
- Working knowledge of fluid systems, including pumps, heat exchangers, manifolds, valves, and associated instrumentation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, including the ability to diagnose technical issues in deployed systems and to propose effective resolutions.
- Travel requirements up to 50%.
