Job Description

At Danfoss Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Controls we are currently looking for a Simulation Specialist (m/f/d) Thermal Energy Systems in Hamburg, Germany to join our Virtual Engineering team.

Job Responsibilities

In this position you will be responsible for simulation of thermal energy systems of Danfoss Cooling products. You will derive design and optimization recommendations from dynamic system simulations including design, experiments, verification and testing. You will create multi-physics models and validate the results with subject matter experts. Hereby, you actively contribute to reducing the number of physical tests and increasing the number of designs evaluated through simulation.

As one of your key tasks, you will build up system and product Models to optimize thermal energy systems, such as automotive thermal management systems. You will continuously build up and feed a model library and further develop automation methods for models and build up FMUs to democratize your 0D/1D lumped-parameter models.

Overall, you will take an active part in implementing Virtual Engineering and Digital Twins by ensuring high simulation knowledge, ensuring the best tools in place and pushing boundaries of what we do today and can do in the future. You will lead technical projects on simulation and document best practices. 

Background & Skills

For this position you hold a university degree Engineering or similar educational, technical background with several years of experience in 0D/1D Modelling & Simulation in a product development environment. You have experience in simulation of thermal energy systems including system and design optimization. Additionally, we are looking for:

  • Proven experience in tools for simulating 3D base physical phenomena, at least in one of the following areas CFD, FEA, FSI, EMC or NVH simulation 
  • Experience in parameterization methods is a plus
  • Willingness to develop our competences further and extend your knowledge in other areas
  • Experience using Dymola and/or Ansys tools are a plus
  • Innovative and open mind-set with fact-based, quality and result-driven approach
  • Effective communicator with distinct collaboration skills, working across borders and cultures
  • Experience in vehicle / automotive thermal management systems is a plus
  • Fluent English language skills
