We are now recruiting for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our Process Focus Team (PFT) and be based at our flagship plant in Havant, Hampshire, UK, on a permanent basis.

 

This role will be identifying the leading metrics which will ensure the achievement of the top level performance metrics of the PFT.  This position aims to develop and implement future strategies for manufacture, identify opportunities for continuous improvement and manage all related capital projects.

Job Responsibilities

As Manufacturing Engineer your primary responsibilities will be to participate in New Product Development projects and ensure our production performance is continuously improved, in order to support customer satisfaction and organisational growth targets.  As a vital member of the PFT, you will also contribute to the annual profit plan process in identifying cost out opportunities and performance improvements via lean activities, waste elimination etc. Further tasks include:

•    Develop and implement new manufacturing processes which are flexible, agile and robust in support of ongoing requirements.
•    To define, measure, analyse and present capital opportunities which include innovative and breakthrough solutions that challenge our traditional approaches.
•    To develop and maintain production related documentation and ensure process control.
•    To develop and implement new manufacturing methods to reduce cost and improve process performance.
•    To ensure manufacturing routings and Bills of Materials reflect accurately the current manufacturing processes and product design in compliance with ERP rules.
•    To monitor and analyse manufacturing expenditure costs and manufacturing cost control.
•    To prepare capital forecast and manage capital projects to completion within agreed timelines.
•    To mentor production staff, ensuring the transfer of process knowledge to all production personnel.
•    Ongoing review of current processes with a view to continuous improvements.

•    Improve the material flow, assembly line process and execute productivity improvement projects.

Background & Skills

To be successful in this position we expect you to have a relevant qualification in Mechanical / Electrical engineering, such as an HNC / HND level qualification (or equivalent), alongside detailed experience in a Manufacturing / Product Engineering environment.  You should have a detailed understanding and knowledge of implementing Lean processes successfully and have used Six Sigma methodologies. The following is also advantageous:

  • Six Sigma Green Belt
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD LT
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to draft technical reports and present findings to all levels of the organisation.
  • Knowledge of semi-automatic and manual assembly techniques and their application within the manufacturing environment
  • Basic understanding of hydraulic and electro–hydraulic systems.
  • Knowledge of CI and lean tools.
