Job Description

Danfoss is seeking an enthusiastic Procurement Manager to join our diverse team, to lead all procurement related tasks at our Longmont site, which is part of our Danfoss Power Solutions EDITRON Division. In that role you’ll be responsible for driving optimization of our strategic and operational procurement processes and managing effectively the interfaces to the business (Supply Chain, Operations, Product Engineering and R&D) as well as managing the supply base. You are the one point of contact for procurement matters for the business in a region/location with the accountability to manage, lead, and coordinate all aspects of procurement at the location(s), region(s) and suppliers assigned. As a people leader you’ll develop a high performing team within the Danfoss culture.

Job Responsibilities

Leadership, People and Organization

  • Support the business strategy and cascade this into execution for your area of responsibility with clear directions setting and explanation of expectations for team members
  • Recruit, develop and train team members
  • Lead a team of 2-4 (strategic buyers and sourcing project managers)

Stakeholder Management

  • Act as a procurement representative in BU / site meetings for S&OP, key projects, performance improvement and change management
  • Provide an interface between Category Management, Project Management & Supplier Quality for existing business as well as R&D, Product Engineering and Project- and Product Management in NDP and Cost out projects
  • Liase with the various areas of the Divisions and Business (e.g. Finance, Materials Management / Supply Chain, Engineering, etc.) in support of operations

Operational Procurement

  • Ensure seamless flow of parts from external suppliers as per the requirement with defined quality, lead time, OTD and quantity.
  • Escalation level for bottleneck management

Cost out & NPD

  • End-to-end responsibility in the delivery of cost saving project pipeline from cross-functional ideation to execution
  • Plan, monitor and run dual sourcing, localization, resourcing and risk mitigation projects with assign team members striving the cross functional matrix
  • Act as procurement workstream lead in simultaneous engineering projects (new product development) e.g. supervise and coach team members to do so

Supplier Management, Contracting and Pricing

  • Monitor supplier performance and initiate improvement plans in case of deviations
  • Supplier capacity management with a 6+ months horizon
  • Contract Negotiations (e.g. supplier logistics agreements (SLA), framework agreements, purchasing agreements and Consignment Stock agreements)
  • Price negotiations in alignment with Category Management team
  • Budgeting & annual standard costing process
  • Supplier relationship management

The ideal candidate possesses these skills. 

  • Bachelor´s or master’s degree in supply chain management, industrial engineering, electrical engineering or business management or equivalent is required.
  • 5+ years’ experience with strategic sourcing, procurement, category management or supply chain. Experience may be gained concurrently.
  • People leadership experience is a plus
  • In our EDITRON Longmont site we’re producing electrical machines and inverters. Previous experience with sourcing of electronic components, printed circuit boards and power modules would be preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to strive the matrix in a global cooperation context and the ability to create relationships with internal stakeholders across multiple functions (R&D, Product Management, Supply Chain).
  • Outstanding communication and cooperation skills with ability to challenge stakeholders.
  • Experience in project management.

Compensation Data

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the range for this position. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. ​

The range for this position is $115,000 to $140,000.
