Job Description

Danfoss is now hiring a Technical Support Specialist for our Drives division. This role will be considered a hybrid position so we are open to candidates living within a 90 miles radius from our Loves Park IL; Milwaukee WI; Ames IA facilities. Many of the Technical Support responsibilities can be handled remotely, however, the right candidate must be able attend their nearest office in an as-needed basis, in accordance with business demand (approximately <20% of the time). They must also be able to travel to our Loves Park, IL main office sporadically for business, development and/or training.”

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provide technical support, troubleshooting, start up and warranty support to NAM Danfoss Drives customers via phone and email in a fast-paced, high-performing contact center environment, taking ownership and effectively following problems through to resolution or warm hand-off.
  • Support equipment repair process and advise partners and customers on spare parts, procedures, and other after-sales issues.   
  • Work in cooperation with other Technical Support Specialist and Engineers to provide adequate and timely solutions to high profile and/or otherwise demanding cases.
  • Supervise and support external service partners’ queries as part of Danfoss service procedures and provide repair and/or service instructions in cooperation with affiliate team.
  • Handle and organize post-sales customer queries and claims in case management system adhering to established workflow and tools.
  • Support the 24/7 after-hours emergency support phone line, as part of a weekly, predefined, rotational schedule.
  • Develop and maintain a proficient level of product, application, and industry knowledge needed to support and excel at duties.

Background & Skills

Required (Basic) Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Electronics, or related technical field and suitable experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the Drives, Power Electronics or Automation industry.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
  • Ability to effectively use standard electrical test equipment such as multimeters and oscilloscopes.
     

Preferred Qualifications

  • Service and/or Application experience on Danfoss variable frequency drives is highly desirable. In lieu of Danfoss-specific knowledge, experience on other brand VFDs will be considered and is also a plus.
  • Service and commissioning experience using Vacon NCLoad, Live, and Danfoss MCT10 software is a plus.
  • Experience in a fast-paced technical support contact center environment.
  • PLC and/or BAS implementation experience. Programing experience is a plus.
  • Fieldbus implementation experience (Bacnet, Modbus, EthernetIP, etc).
  • SAP and Salesforce experience.
