The Impact You'll Make

A Material Handler performs any of the functions associated with shipping, receiving & distribution of raw materials, work in progress, and finished goods.  Specific activities include receiving & inspecting incoming materials and transporting these materials to warehouse storage, stockroom, production area or other designated locations.  This position also picks, packs, and transports goods to staging area for shipment. This position may track and unload incoming material and/or check goods received against purchase order, bill of lading, etc. Material Handlers may be certified to operate fork trucks or other material handling power equipment to accommodate storage of products throughout the warehouse, stockroom, or facility.

This is a 2nd Shift position, with shift hours 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

 

What You’ll Be Doing

Specific Activities Include:

  • Receiving and inspecting incoming materials and transporting these materials to warehouse storage, stockroom, production area or other designated locations
  • Picks, packs, and transports goods to staging area for shipment
  • This position may track and unload incoming material and/or check goods received against purchase order, bill of lading, etc. 
  • Material Handlers may be certified to operate fork trucks or other material handling power equipment to accommodate storage of products throughout the warehouse, stockroom, or facility.

What We're Looking For

  • Required Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to operate a forklift safely is required.  Safety record will be considered when selecting employees for Material Handler positions.
  • Ability to operate a pushcart to pick parts from shelving units and deliver to area of need.
  • Ability to Pack Parcel – maneuver completed packages to the appropriate skid.
  • Regularly work with Microsoft Office products such as Outlook, Word and Excel as well as ERP systems such as SRP.
  • Regularly read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Regularly add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Compute rate, ratio, and percent and draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Regularly expected to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Expected to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Expected to apply a strong quality mindset when receiving, evaluating, handling, and delivering materials for production.
  • Continually assess and prioritize the needs of their customers to provide timely delivery.
  • Observe operations processes to define and document work standards and suggest improvements.
  • Leverage lean concepts, creative problem solving, and out-of-the box thinking when faced with opportunities for improvement

 

 

Additional Requirements and Skills

    • Safety: Follows safety and housekeeping standards and procedures, uses appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), looks after the safety of others.
    • Attendance, rarely absent or late, pre-approve and pre-scheduled absences.  Must be availble for overtime, as required by business needs.
    • Quality: Uses RF scanners for bar coding of shipments.  Responsible for following all department control plans and procedures to ensure inventory accuracy. Follows standard work procedures, self acknowledges and corrects mistakes, works to avoid errors and get it right the first time.
    • Productivity: Ability to meet or exceed productivity goals, manages time wisely, stays on task requiring little supervision to get the job done.
