The Principal Product Engineer utilizes advanced tools in problem solving and project management to solve technical issues. This role is responsible for providing product engineering support for existing Aeroquip Fluid Conveyance Products. This position requires a depth of experience such that individual knowledge and training can be coupled with broad industry-wide contacts and experiences to creatively and quickly resolve critical business issues and opportunities. The Principal Product Engineer serves as a recognized technical authority across the corporation, leveraging expertise, innovation, and applied research to identify technology needs, develop novel solutions, and influence future product and technology direction.
What You’ll Be Doing
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following.
- Identify technology needs and combine multi-disciplinary principles to create novel solutions
- Create and optimize new products and processes while integrating and implementing them across multiple sites
- Develop innovative or disruptive technology
- Establish enterprise level technology roadmaps
- Leverages broad industry wide contacts and experiences to creatively and quickly resolve critical business issues and opportunities.
- Possess a broad strategic vision of the company’s future products and services
- Expert in designing products, developing test plans, analyzing test data against performance criteria, writing conclusive reports, and acting as technical and/or project leader between all functions of the organization
- Up to 10% domestic and international travel may be required to support project activities
What We're Looking For
Required (basic) qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Materials or other Engineering from an accredited institution
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship
- Must be within 50 miles of the Van Wert, OH or Maumee, OH facility. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in product engineering or manufacturing engineering
Preferred qualifications
- Minimum 15 years’ experience in product engineering or manufacturing engineering
- Minimum 10 years' experience in hydraulics products/systems
- Demonstrated technical leadership across multiple product lines or technologies
- Advanced degree (Masters, PhD, or other uniquely obtained knowledge base)
