Job Description

Danfoss Climate Solutions is looking for a talented Embedded Firmware-Software Engineer, to join our multicultural team.

At Danfoss Climate Solutions we engineer environmentally sustainable solutions for Air Conditioning, Heating and Cooling applications.

Our Embedded Software Engineers are developing a new standard platform of Flexible Control solutions, with the ambition of empowering customers to develop their own application software for a greener future.

If you like the challenge of high-complexity embedded systems, where multiple SW components are coordinated by an automotive-grade RTOS, if you believe that robustness, performances, flexibility, connectivity and scalability through open standards are the foundations of a modern system, then you will find the right context to express and grow your talent.

You will be part of the IoT Platform team with focus on integrating and developing embedded firmware/software components for our current and next generation IoT devices. Your tasks will span between in-house development, 3rd party software component integration and cooperating with potential external partners.

We expect you to work mainly from the office, with some smart-working flexibility.

At Danfoss, we believe that a diverse and inclusive workplace fosters creativity, innovation, and a broader perspective in decision-making. You are encouraged to apply if you carry the right skills and come from a different industry and/or work/social environment: we believe your different experience and background will enrich our team.

Job Responsibilities

As an Embedded Firmware-Software Engineer, you will be involved with specifying, designing, testing and implementing complex software. You will also be expected to cooperate with external consultants.

Your main tasks will be to:

  • Develop embedded software for high-end microcontrollers (often ARM based)
  • Develop the embedded software using C/C++
  • Develop and integrate in a multi-tasking RTOS
  • Perform test and validation on the product you are developing and the ecosystem around it
  • Cooperate with internal SW architects and external partners
  • Cooperate with Hardware engineers in troubleshooting and optimizing new HW designs

Background & Skills

  • Previous experience in Embedded Firmware-Software development in mid-sized structured companies
  • Fluent in C/C++ and version control tools (Git)
  • Previous experience of RTOSs and multi-threading coordination mechanisms
  • Experience with IoT architectures, connectivity (modem LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth/BLE) and communication protocols (TCP/IP, MQTT)
  • Experience with standard industrial communication protocols (e.g. Modbus, Bacnet, CanOpen)
  • Ability to understand hardware schematics and layouts
  • Strong knowledge of English and Italian language (written & spoken).
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and TDD (Test Driven Development) is a plus
  • Knowledge of IEC-61131 PLC programming languages is a plus
  • Knowledge in secure software development and cybersecurity regulation (IEC-62443-4-1 and IEC-62443-4-2) is a plus
