Job Location:  Nanjing, CN
Employment Type:  Full Time
Segment:  Danfoss Power Solutions Segment
Job Category:  R&D, Technology and Engineering
Work Location Type:  On-site
Job Title:  Functional Safety Engineer

The Impact You'll Make

1. Lead the completion of project level functional safety concept phase work (HARA analysis/risk assessment, safety objectives/PLr definition), and decompose functional safety requirements (FSR) and technical safety requirements (TSR).

2.Guide the hardware and software teams in designing and implementing security mechanisms, lead security verification activities (FMEA, FTA, FMEDA), and ensure that products pass third-party functional safety certifications (such as ASIL C/D level or PLr d/e level).

3.Establish and maintain the company's functional safety process system, serving as a cross departmental "safety translator" for systems, hardware, software, testing, and machinery, ensuring that all engineering activities comply with safety and compliance requirements.

What You’ll Be Doing

1. Lead hazard analysis and risk assessment (HARA) for new projects (for automotive products) or risk assessment (for industrial machinery products), identifying potential hazardous events at the vehicle/equipment level.

2.Determine ASIL level and establish safety goals according to ISO 26262; Or determine PLr (performance level requirements) according to ISO 13849 and select the corresponding Category (structural category).

3. Translate safety objectives/PLr into functional safety concepts, write functional safety requirements (FSR), and further refine them into technical safety requirements (TSR), which are assigned to hardware, software, and mechanical subsystems.

4. Deeply participate in hardware, software, and mechanical architecture design reviews, and propose specific technical requirements for key safety mechanisms such as watchdog, ECC/CRC verification, dual core locking, power monitoring, torque monitoring, brake control, and safety torque shutdown STO.

5. Evaluate the Safety Manual/Safety Data of the safety related components provided by the supplier, such as the main control chip MCU, power management chip, position sensor, and safety relay, to ensure compliance with system integration safety requirements.

6.Regularly organize internal functional safety training to enhance the overall "safety design awareness" of the R&D team, ensuring that safety activities run through the entire lifecycle of concept, development, production, and operation.

What We're Looking For

1. Education:Bachelor's degree or above, major in automation, electronic engineering, vehicle engineering, computer science, mechanical electronics, or related fields.

2. Work experience: Over 5 years of experience in functional safety development and functional safety management in off-highway applications.

3. Competence:
    • Deeply understand all core parts of ISO 13849, IEC61800-5-2 and IEC61508.

    • Proficient experience in functional safety management

  • Familiar with the entire design process of safety related control systems, including risk identification, PLr determination, Category selection (1-4 categories), and quantitative design of DCavg/MTTFd.

  • Analysis tools: Proficient in using FMEA and FTA analysis tools (such as IQ-FMEA, ANSYS medini analysis, or PTC Integrity), with the ability to independently perform FMEDA quantitative calculations and MTTFd/DCavg calculations.

  • Understand the basic principles of safety modules (such as E2E communication, WDGM, MCAL driver safety) in AUTOSAR software architecture (for in vehicle products).

4. Language:Good English reading ability, good learning ability, communication ability, and teamwork spirit.

5. Personal characteristics:Strong team player, having a good character, diligent and dedicated, strong sense of
work responsibility, and able to withstand work pressure.
