Job Responsibilities

    1. Receiver rubber from Batch-Off and feed it into the extruder (through the stock tree).
    2. According to what the procedure book indicates: install the proper head plate/crossbar and adjust the temperature of the extruder and the calender rollers at the beginning of each batch/compound.
    3. Run the extruder; monitor Calender rollers at all time to ensure the rubber is being worked properly.
    4. Adjust the Calender rolls to achieve the proper gauge of rubber thickness. Rubber is every-changing and the rolls might need multiple adjustments.
    5. Take-Up operator informs calender operator of the weight of each roll; Calender operator records the roll’s weight on the production sheet and the gauge of the batch on the SPC sheet.
    6. Setting up Calender/Take-Up requires both operators working together to feed the rubber through the process. Also, when one operator goes on break, the other can run both machines for a short time.

      1. Ensure rubber looks and runs like it should
      1. Monitor the process on both sides of the Calender rollers (mirror constantly shows the opposite side)
      2. Use caliper to check that the rubber is the proper gauge before it goes into the powder house
