Job Description

Danfoss Climate Solutions are seeking a Control SW Engineer to design and develop control applications for new decarbonizing applications.

 

The increasing demand for environmentally sustainable solutions is propelling a shift towards greater automation and integration of heating, cooling, and air conditioning systems within commercial buildings. This integration aims to improve energy efficiency and promote the adoption of clean energy sources.

 

An area experiencing rapid expansion is data centers, driven by the escalating need for cloud computing power, particularly fueled by the growing utilization of AI services. However, data centers are notorious for their significant energy consumption, requiring robust and precise cooling and temperature control systems.

 

As member of our team, your role will be to develop cutting-edge control software tailored for managing diverse sub-systems within data centers. These include Cooling Distribution Units (CDU), optimizing facility water and technical water loops, control of pump skids, and implementing heat recovery strategies. To streamline testing and enhance development speed, we intend to utilize model-based design and simulation methodologies.

 

This position is available in Nordborg (DK) or possibly Venice/Mestre (IT) as a hybrid role, and we would for the right candidate consider relocation to Nordborg from EU only.

Job Responsibilities

As a Control Engineer you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing control systems for data centers using Model-Based Design with MATLAB/Simulink as be part of a dedicated application control development team with strong competencies in control SW development.

 

Here you will complement the team with modelling and simulation knowledge. The team is diverse in terms of age and nationality, and the daily spoken language is English. Some of the key activities will include:

  • Designing, developing, and implementing control systems for our latest products using Model-Based Design with MATLAB/Simulink.

  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure that the systems meet our customers' requirements and specifications.

  • Developing and testing control algorithms for various components of the systems.

  • Performing simulation studies and analysis of control performance.

  • Participating in code and design reviews to ensure the quality and efficiency of the software.

  • Keeping up-to-date with the latest developments in control systems and SW-development.

Background & Skills

Beyond the above we believe the ideal candidate has

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical/Energy Engineering, or a related field.

  • Experience in designing, developing, and implementing control systems using Model-Based Design with MATLAB/Simulink.

  • Experience working with PLC programming according to IEC 61131-3  (ST, FBD, LD).

  • Familiar with version control of source code in GIT

  • A good understanding of thermal/dynamical systems and control.

  • Experience with real-time operating systems and software development tools.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Good communication and collaboration skills.
