Job Description

Danfoss is seeking a Senior IP Consultant to join our Intellectual Property team. Based in Nordborg, Denmark (or nearby locations), this role comes with significant responsibility across multiple business units, focusing on IP Protection, IP Portfolio Management, Freedom-to-Operate, IP Enforcement, and other related areas. As an IP business partner, you will leverage the power of intellectual property to support business objectives and ensure robust protection of innovations.

 

Your primary focus will be managing patents, one of the key intellectual property rights. This involves both a detailed approach to individual cases and the ability to maintain a broader strategic perspective. Key responsibilities include identifying new inventions, ensuring proper protection through patents or trade secrets, and preventing potential IP violations by external parties. You will also collaborate with international patent agents, particularly from Germany, the US, and China.

Job Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include identifying new inventions, ensuring proper protection through patents or trade secrets, and preventing potential IP violations by external parties. You will also collaborate with international patent agents, particularly from Germany, the US, and China.

 

  • Manage the IP portfolio across several business units.
  • Advise on IP matters related to patents, trade secrets.
  • Identify and safeguard new inventions through patents or alternative IP rights.
  • Ensure Danfoss' operations is not violating third-party IP rights.
  • Collaborate with international patent agents, primarily in Germany, the US, and China.
  • Provide strategic IP support to business units, enabling innovation and protecting business interests.

We are looking for someone with:

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering (Mechanical Electrical or Physics).
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience, ideally as a patent attorney in multicultural environments.
  • Experience in or familiarity with Danfoss’ product or technology areas (preferred but not essential).
  • European Patent Attorney qualification or currently pursuing one would be an advantage.
  • Strong oral and written skills in both Danish and English is required.
  • German language skills (reading) are an asset.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally.
