Job Description

Danfoss Climate Solutions is looking for a Senior Manager for our specialist team consisting of four sub-teams: FEA-simulation, Data analysis, Reliability and Firmware development. 


Your role will be to build up our new competences and maximize our return in existing specialist functions, by improving how specialists contribute to New Product Developments (NPD). You will be working in Engineering Excellence, Sensing Solutions and be part of a leader team.

Your base will mainly be in Nordborg, Denmark (minimum 2 workdays per week), but we are open for a flexible location. You, on the other hand, need to be open for traveling on a regular basis.
 

Job Responsibilities

As our Senior Manager, you will be people manager for a team of 10 highly skilled and specialized people who contribute to our NPD teams with different set of specialties. You will be responsible for the activities in the team, including refinement of road map and goal setting. Furthermore, our new R&D strategy relies on enhancing our specialists' function, and you will be a key element in driving this to a success. The FEA-simulation and the reliability team are under implementation, and you will have the best possibilities to build up the teams. The FEA-team will be placed in Hamburg, Germany, while the other functions are situated in Nordborg.

 

Key tasks include, but are not limited to the following:

  • People management, including development, support and coaching of the specialist functions
  • Goal- and roadmap setting for the specialist work functions
  • Implementation of our new specialist functions (FEA & Relia.) according to our R&D strategy
  • Driving the development of our existing specialist functions
  • Alignment with NPD projects and allocation of highly requested resources
  • Secure our platform approach in software development
  • Lead the implementation of cloud-based software tools to enable data driven production optimization
  • Organize the optimization & standardization of our environmental test programs 
  • Lead the implementation of automated reporting
  • Identify and drive improvements in our NPD processes

Background & Skills

Your previous merits and personality are of higher importance than your educational background, however a Bachelor Science or higher degree is an advantage, preferably within applied physics, numerical simulations, or mathematics. The background of the team ranges from Bachelor Science to Ph.D. What is important is, that you have 5+ years of experience as a manager of advanced technical specialists to be considered for this position. 
Additionally, you are fluent in verbal and written English.

 

As a person, you are comfortable in working with a broad range of specialists, not being the technical expert yourself, but able to facilitate and understand the implications of the work of the specialist. You are good at communicating in different terms and with different perspectives depending on the audience and able to set perspectives, see connections and context in highly specialized functions vs. our general NPD roadmap and organization. 
 

You are also comfortable with breaking barriers and existing ways for working, while able to work and enable others to deliver in a changing environment. Last, but not least you are able and willing to drive changes in an organization, and to convert concepts into specific deliveries, having trust in work of others, and collaborate with other managers.
