The Impact You'll Make
As a Software Architect, you will shape the technical vision behind an intelligent edge platform that helps supermarkets reduce food loss and optimize energy consumption. Your architectural decisions will directly influence the scalability, reliability, and long-term success of solutions used in real-world retail environments.
You will combine strategic thinking with hands-on development, helping define the direction of technology while building critical platform components. From evaluating open-source technologies to guiding distributed system design, your expertise will help create solutions that deliver measurable customer value.
Working closely with product and engineering teams, you will enable faster innovation, strengthen technical foundations, and contribute to sustainability outcomes through intelligent edge computing solutions.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Define platform architecture and technical standards that improve scalability, reliability, and long-term maintainability.
- Design and develop critical platform components in Rust and/or Go to establish technical direction through hands-on contribution.
- Evaluate open-source technologies and technology choices to help the team make informed, future-ready decisions.
- Guide architectural decisions across distributed systems, messaging infrastructure, and edge computing solutions to support business growth.
- Mentor engineers through technical reviews, knowledge sharing, and architectural guidance to strengthen engineering excellence.
What We're Looking For
- 8+ years of software development experience with strong hands-on proficiency in Rust and/or Go.
- Proven track record of architecting and building distributed systems.
- Deep expertise in real-time messaging systems (MQTT, AMQP, Kafka) and edge computing patterns.
- Experience making build-versus-buy technology decisions and managing relationships with open source projects.
- Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment strategies for edge environments.
- Strong communication skills for technical collaboration, documentation, and community engagement in English.
- A "Let's get it done" mindset—you take initiative, solve problems, and make things happen.
- End-to-end ownership—you own the entire product, from code, tests, and CI/CD pipelines to reliability and delivering a great user experience.
