We are looking for a Technical Illustrator who will work as part of a global team of Technical Writers to support them in creating illustrations for our technical communication material. 
Our team is creating technical communication materials, like Operating and Service Guides, for our customers and Service partners. We are covering the entire product portfolio of the Danfoss Drives segment. 

 

Job Responsibilities

Work as part of a global team of Technical Writers to support them in creating illustrations for our technical communication material. You will:
 
•    Extract 3D models in collaboration with our mechanical engineers
•    Transfer 3D views of those models to Adobe Illustrator 
•    Create the illustrations based on the definitions from the Technical Writers
•    Make the illustrations available in the team’s CCMS (component content management system)
•    Maintain the illustration task list and style guide
•    Support as a backup in our release process for our technical communication material

 

Background & Skills

A successful candidate must
•    have proven experience in working cross-functionally in a matrix organization
•    be able to work in virtual teams and across diverse cultures in order to succeed in this global project
•    communicate well in English language, both verbally and in writing 
•    have a minimum of 3 years of experience as a technical illustrator and 
o    be able to show a portfolio of completed illustrations 
o    have experience in capturing 2D illustrations using 3D models
o    be able to manipulate and explode 3D models using PTC Creo or similar tool
o    have experience creating vector images from photos, sketches, and descriptions
o    have experience adding dimensions, callouts, and annotations to illustrations
o    be able to create cross-sections and magnified views in illustrations
o    works well with SMEs and writers to understand drawing requirements
o    be highly skilled in working with illustration tools, like Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
o    be familiar with Microsoft tools, like SharePoint, Teams, Word, Powerpoint, Excel
o    have experience using illustration standards/style guide
To your advantage, you are:
•    Highly skilled in working with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
•    Experienced in using and maintaining Adobe Illustrator libraries
•    Used to creating visually appealing tables and charts from MS Excel
•    Familiar with working with BOMs (bill of materials) 
•    Familiar with electrical symbols and block diagrams
•    Experienced in using PTC Creo and Windchill PLM software
•    Experienced in using a CCMS
•    Used to working in Technical Communication environment
•    Familiar with video editing software
•    Used to creating animations using 3D models and other resources
•    Having knowledge of Hololens, Vuforia or other AR/VR tools 
•    Having knowledge of DITA, HTML, or XML
The successful candidate will be self-driven with the ability to meet stringent project deadlines.
As part of a global support organization limited travel will be required for the purpose of meeting  stakeholders and participate in workshops.
