Job Description

Danfoss is looking for an energy-efficiency minded Senior Sales Engineer to develop and manage our complete portfolio of Marine and Offshore products in Malaysia. You will be responsible for driving business growth in Malaysia for the Marine & Offshore business under Danfoss Drives Segment with an eye to build business for other segments as well incl on heat exchangers, high pressure pumps, sensors and hydraulic components and controls.

You will work with the local team supported by regional stakeholders to generate pipelines and deliver sales targets. This includes developing market strategies to maximize opportunities and building strategic partnerships. Therefore, motivation, tact, sensitivity, and professionalism are prerequisites, as you will have daily contact with customers and will be a direct influence on them. To be successful, the incumbent must drive a clear go-to-market strategy with an inclusive approach and prioritize efforts to maximize business targets while developing long term opportunities.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following. 

  • Fully responsible for Malaysia M&O sales targets and growth plan
  • Independently develop the local M&O business strategy as the subject matter expert, and drive business growth through the successful implementation of that strategy
  • Work with local and regional Danfoss stakeholders to develop targeted solutions to address customer needs
  • Grow business with electrification projects with ports, shipyards, shipowners, system integrators and partners (distributors), leveraging the support of regional and global Danfoss networks
  • Grow aftermarket business with shipowners and ship management companies for retrofits, service support and partner sales
  • Grow partner business through development and implementation of business plans
  • Mine new opportunities and develop win plans for pipelines
  • Make adjustments to strategies to navigate surprise challenges and uncertainties
  • Connect the dots with internal and external stakeholders in order to multiply efforts and develop win-win solutions

The ideal candidate possesses these skills. 

  • Minimum Diploma/Bachelor’s Degree in Business/Engineering, ideally electrical engineering with experience in variable speed drives
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant working experience in a front end sales role with project sales in the marine industry towards ports, shipyards, system integrators, shipowners, with good exposure to matrix management, cross-functional collaboration and distributor business
  • Must be able to work efficiently as a sole contributor, as well as a team player
  • Must be self-driven and have a hunter mindset with strong EQ and AQ
  • Highly motivated and finds building relationships rewarding
