Danfoss Turbocor is looking for a Senior Lab Engineer.

What You’ll Be Doing

Duties Include: 

Lead the development of advanced test equipment technologies and innovative methodologies for compressor testing, while mentoring junior engineers in daily engineering activities.  Specific duties include: develop and improve experimental test equipment, measurement methodologies, and control systems to optimize the performance and efficiency of R&D compressor testing; mentor and guide junior engineers and technicians in experimental setup, instrumentation, data acquisition, and data analysis best practices; provide technical support in developing long-term engineering plans for R&D laboratory chiller plants and test platform expansion; collaborate with cross-functional technical teams on the evaluation, design, and implementation of complex systems supporting experimental test programs; evaluate the performance of existing laboratory systems, recommend upgrades, and propose process improvements with documented justifications; oversee instrument calibration and supplier engagement by creating technical specifications, evaluating test equipment capabilities, and ensuring compliance with current and future testing requirements; develop internal engineering competencies by conducting industry research to identify best practices and emerging technologies; and determine necessary equipment, training, and procedures; use analytical tools such as Python, MATLAB, or similar; to automate test data processing and visualization, enabling quick summaries, historical data comparison, and accelerating root-cause analysis; ensure a safe, efficient, and quality-compliant work environment consistent with company standards and regulatory requirements.

What We're Looking For

Requirements:    

•    Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Electrical Engineering with at least 3 years of experience in research engineering involving fluid mechanics and thermodynamics, with emphasis on compressible flows in laboratory research settings
•    In lieu of master’s degree plus experience, Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Electrical Engineering with at least 6 years of experience in research engineering involving fluid mechanics and thermodynamics, with emphasis on compressible flows in laboratory research settings
•    3 years experience leading engineering experiments and analyzing results.
•    3 years experience with laboratory instrumentation, data acquisition systems, and engineering best practices.
•    3 years experience automating test data processing, analyzing and visualizing complex fluid mechanics data, and preparing and presenting technical results to diverse audiences, including engineers, management, and non-technical stakeholders.
•    3 years experience with CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar) and analysis tools (e.g. MATLAB, LabVIEW, or Python).

 

Salary:    $123,000-128,000 per year
