Job Description
Danfoss Hydraulics Division is currently seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Newbern, TN location.
The primary function of the Senior Manufacturing Engineer is to optimize manufacturing processes related to hydraulic hose production. Responsible for the implementation, ownership, and improvement of hose manufacturing processes plant wide. Manufacturing Engineering responsibilities across the plant, including the following activities: safety, quality, cost reduction/cost out projects, product cost estimating, developing and maintaining production standards, and standard work. Assist in the coordination of the capital spending program, continuous improvement (quality / efficiency) and cost out initiatives.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead cost reduction projects, and value analysis in order to reduce labor and burden costs. Experience with tool and machine design to support the project work.
- Own, prepare, and maintain all production standard work and production documentation, conduct annual FMEA reviews.
- Utilize Continuous Improvement Framework Tool in order to drive continuous improvements.
- Develop, maintain, and improve plant/work cell layouts.
- Familiar with automation techniques, including feeders, sensors, hydraulics & pneumatics
- Ensure that process improvements are accurately reflected in product costs and labor and material standards.
- Evaluate production scrap and customer returns for root cause and corrective actions, utilizing formal problem-solving tools such as 8D analysis, PFMEA’s, Control plans, etc., implementing changes for corrective actions and being able to tie this analysis back to operations standard work and product documentation.
- Mentor co-ops, interns, and technicians.
- Support new product/process development.
- Analyses manufacturing data, identifying adverse conditions, and makes recommendations for improvement.
- Research, recommend, and execute capital equipment projects.
- Ensure processes meet Environmental, Safety, and Health & regulatory requirements. Ensure processes meet the company's Quality Management Systems

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline
- 3+ years previous engineering work in a manufacturing environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5 years previous engineering work experience in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of cost estimating and cost out skills/tools
- Knowledge and application of problem-solving tools and methodologies
- Ideal candidate would have working experience in 1 or more of the following disciplines: - Wire braiding - Rubber extrusion - Autoclaves - Distribution - PC skills
