The Impact You'll Make

 

Danfoss is currently hiring for a Tactical Buyer at our Utica, NY location, supporting our growing Data Center Business Unit.  The Tactical Buyer manages purchase order execution, supplier follow-up, shortage mitigation, delivery confirmations, expedite coordination, and purchasing system accuracy for materials supporting liquid-cooling manufacturing and distribution.

What You’ll Be Doing

 

  • Execute purchase orders, supplier confirmations, delivery follow-up, expedites, and shortage recovery actions based on MRP and site priorities.
  • Monitor supplier performance, open orders, past-due deliveries, promise dates, acknowledgments, and material availability risks.
  • Resolve purchase order discrepancies, supplier communication gaps, invoice issues, receiving discrepancies, quantity changes, and delivery changes.
  • Partner with Planning, Operations, Quality, Sourcing, and suppliers to mitigate production-impacting shortages and customer delivery risk.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing data, lead times, acknowledgments, delivery commitments, supplier notes, and recovery actions in ERP/MRP systems.
  • Escalate repeated supplier misses, capacity concerns, quality holds, packaging problems, or transportation risks through standard routines.
  • Support launch readiness and product transfers by tracking supplier readiness, first deliveries, samples, packaging, documentation, and ramp-up needs.

What We're Looking For

 

 

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, operations, logistics, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
  • Purchasing, material planning, supplier follow-up, production control, or manufacturing support experience preferred.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP purchasing transactions, open order management, supplier communication, and shortage mitigation preferred.
  • Strong follow-up, negotiation, data accuracy, and cross-functional communication skills.

  5. The targeted salary range for this position is $75,000 - $100,000 based on experience.
