The Impact You'll Make

As our new Sensor Development Engineer, you will play a key role in developing next-generation sensor solutions that enable smarter, more efficient, and more sustainable systems. Your work will focus on transforming customer and product requirements into robust, reliable, and manufacturable sensor designs for demanding industrial applications. 
You will leverage your expertise in mechanical design, product development, and experimental validation to drive sensor innovation from concepts through industrialization. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, you will help create sensor solutions that deliver high performance, durability, and quality throughout their lifecycle.
Joining our team in Nordborg and Kolding, you will collaborate with skilled colleagues and external partners to bring innovative ideas to market and contribute to Danfoss’ mission of engineering solutions that support a more sustainable future.

What You’ll Be Doing

•    Develop and design sensor products like pressure sensors and gas detection sensors from concept through validation and implementation.
•    Translate customer, system, and product requirements into robust and cost-effective sensor designs.
•    Drive mechanical design activities, including component design, materials selection, packaging concepts, and design for manufacturability.
•    Plan and execute prototype builds, laboratory testing, and validation activities to verify performance, reliability, and durability.
•    Analyze test results and identify opportunities for design improvements and optimization.
•    Collaborate with electronics, software, manufacturing, quality, and supplier teams to develop complete sensor solutions.
•    Support root-cause investigations, design reviews, and continuous product improvements.
•    Utilize simulation and engineering analysis tools where appropriate to support design decisions and reduce development risk.
•    Create and maintain technical documentation, specifications, test reports, and design guidelines.

What We're Looking For

•    Degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
•    Experience in mechanical product development, preferably within sensors, measurement technology, or electromechanical products.
•    Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, tolerancing, materials, manufacturing processes, and product robustness.
•    Hands-on experience with prototyping, testing, validation, and problem-solving in laboratory environments.
•    Knowledge of reliability, environmental testing, and design verification methodologies.
•    Experience with CAD tools and mechanical design processes.
•    Familiarity with simulation and engineering analysis tools is considered an advantage.
•    Ability to transform complex technical requirements into practical, innovative, and manufacturable solutions.
•    Strong communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
•    A collaborative mindset combined with curiosity, ownership, and a passion for engineering excellence.
