Job Description

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Sr. Operations Manager is responsible for leading the plant's manufacturing operations to achieve customer satisfaction, meet critical business objectives, and drive long-term success of the business by leveraging tools and resources from the entire operation. They will directly manage the operations of the machining, assembly, paint and packaging operations of the Danfoss Hydraulics Shawnee, OK facility. The Sr. Operations Manager will plan, organize, direct, and control all facets of the manufacturing operations while guiding the cross-functional value stream teams. They will drive performance and deploy continuous improvement framework (CIF) to achieve or exceed financial plans, employee engagement and strategic goals. Leveraging resources and motivating personnel to create a high performance culture will be critical to success.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following.

  • Provide leadership, direction and guidance to supervisors and lead technicians.
  • Generate a highly motivated and committed workforce with emphasis on the development of skills needed to accomplish safety, quality, on-time delivery, and product cost goals.
  • Effectively communicate information pertaining to a wide range of performance measures.
  • Proactively implements, promotes and maintains a safe working environment through diligence in accident prevention, investigation, equipment maintenance and rule enforcement.
  • Coordinate, leverage and appropriately utilizes resources with other managers or coaches such as maintenance, materials, scheduling, logistics and engineering, to resolve manufacturing problems, improve processes and meet external and internal customer demands.
  • Drives the company’s vision and mission by reinforcing ethics, values, and quality policies throughout their area of responsibility. 
  • Acts as a business partner by planning, initiating, leading, measuring, monitoring and assessing continuous improvement programs and manufacturing process improvements by applying appropriate processes and problem solving tools such and 6S.
  • Promotes a quality culture by demonstrating customer focus and regularly communicating customer feedback to employees in order to facilitate collaborative problem solving, drive continuous quality improvement and ensure alignment/compliance with industry standards. 
  • Actively participates in setting, communicating and achieving department goals and objectives and develops and maintains performance metrics as required to monitor results and uses those results as a tool to identify and initiate process improvements within own work area. 
  • Acts to positively communicate the policies, practices, changes and decisions of management.
  • Motivates and coaches employees to maintain high levels of satisfaction, productivity and quality.
  • Demonstrates an appreciation for similarities and individual differences and supports a culture of inclusion that leverages the potential of all employees.

Background & Skills

 

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required.
  • 5+ years supervisory experience is required.
  • 8+ years experience with lean manufacturing in a production/manufacturing/operations environment.
  • Must be able to work in the US without sponsorship, both now and in the future

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in a Technical field
  • Experience in ISO certified manufacturing assembly environment
  • Six Sigma/Black Belt
  • Extensive experience with Lean Manufacturing Tools and Principles
  • Demonstrated technical understanding of production planning techniques, current quality methods, OSHA requirements and accounting principles
