At Danfoss Drives, you will help shape the future of electrification and renewable energy solutions through advanced simulation and modelling. As a Simulation Specialist, you will develop simulation models for grid-connected power electronic systems that support product innovation, grid code compliance, and customer success around the world.

 

Your work will contribute directly to the performance and reliability of our products, from motor technologies to renewable energy and energy storage applications. By turning complex system behaviour into actionable insights, you will help ensure our solutions perform reliably in demanding operating environments.

 

You will join our Simulations & Control team and work closely with software developers, system engineers, and product teams across Danfoss. This is an opportunity to apply your expertise in a collaborative environment where learning, innovation, and technical quality are valued.

What You’ll Be Doing

 

  • Develop simulation models for grid-connected power converters, inverters, and battery energy storage systems to support product development and customer applications.
  • Create and maintain Functional Mock-up Units (FMUs) that enable efficient and accurate simulation testing across different environments.
  • Collaborate with software development and systems engineering teams to ensure simulation models accurately represent product functionality and performance.
  • Validate and test simulation models against relevant grid code requirements to support compliance and reliable product operation.
  • Analyse converter behaviour under different grid conditions and fault scenarios to improve product performance and system stability.

 

What We're Looking For

 

  • Master’s degree in Power Electronics, Power Systems, or a related field, with knowledge of power electronics and power systems gained through academic studies and/or professional experience.
  • 2-3 years of experience with simulation studies of grid-connected power electronic devices.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink and at least one of the following tools: PSCAD, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, or PSS®E.
  • A structured approach to problem-solving and the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills in English, together with a customer-focused mindset and commitment to quality.

 

It’s a Bonus If You Have

 

  • Knowledge of grid code compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of Python programming, Git, and the working processes of Transmission System Operators (TSOs) and Distribution System Operators (DSOs).
  • Experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) systems, Robot Framework, and Azure DevOps.
  • Experience with coding and the ability to write and understand C and C++.
