The Impact You'll Make
As our new Game design engineer (Unity-focused) , you’ll bring Danfoss’ industrial digital twins to life by creating immersive, interactive experiences that make complex engineering systems easier to understand, explore and improve. You’ll turn simulation results and live sensor data into real-time 3D environments where engineers, operators and customers can see how systems behave, investigate what drives performance and explore different scenarios.
Your impact? You’ll help transform complex data about cooling, heat recovery, airflow, temperatures and energy flows into intuitive visual experiences — making insights that might otherwise require spreadsheets and hours of explanation visible in seconds. More importantly, you’ll help teams ask better questions: What is happening? Why is it happening? And what could we change to improve the system?
You’ll work at the intersection of 3D/XR development, engineering, simulation and data, helping shape how digital twins are experienced and used across Danfoss.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Build and maintain interactive 3D environments using technologies such as Unity and Three.js to represent complex industrial systems and their behaviour.
- Develop robust C# solutions that connect real-time 3D experiences with simulation results, time-series data and APIs from our digital twin backend.
- Design and implement intuitive in-scene UI, navigation and interactions that allow users to explore assets, investigate data and compare different scenarios independently.
- Ensure applications are fast, stable and responsive across target platforms, including web, VR and AR where relevant.
- Investigate system behaviour and test ideas together with data scientists, simulation and application engineers — exploring how changes in components, parameters or operating conditions could affect performance and turning those findings into useful digital twin experiences.
What We're Looking For
- Strong hands-on experience with Unity and real-time 3D development. A portfolio, playable build or repository showcasing your work is highly valued.
- Solid C# programming skills and the ability to design, structure and maintain production-quality code.
- Proven experience building interactive 3D applications, with a strong interest in developing your career further in XR, real-time 3D and immersive technologies.
- An engineering mindset and curiosity about how complex systems behave, with the ability to use data, experiments and technical discussions to investigate problems and explore better solutions. Exposure to physics, thermodynamics or engineering simulations is a strong advantage.
- Strong English communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with distributed, cross-functional teams.
Nice to have: experience with shaders, animation systems, responsive UI, WebGL, API integration, data-heavy visualization or XR technologies. A degree in Computer Science, Game Development, Engineering or a related field is also welcome.
What You'll Get from Us
- The opportunity to shape how industrial digital twins are visualized, explored and used to improve real-world systems, connecting engineering data with immersive digital experiences.
- Hands-on exposure to Unity, real-time 3D, XR, digital twins, simulation data and AI/data-driven solutions in a real industrial environment.
- Close collaboration with experienced data scientists, data engineers, simulation engineers, application engineers and product teams, giving you the opportunity to learn from different disciplines and contribute beyond your own technical area.
- A highly collaborative, feedback-driven and learning-oriented team where senior engineers are encouraged to challenge ideas, share knowledge, mentor others and shape technical direction.
- A hybrid working model in Sofia, together with a competitive benefits package, international environment and opportunities to grow your technical expertise and career within Danfoss.
