As our Sr. Embedded Software Specialist, you will shape the next generation of embedded compressor control systems used across the world in high‑efficiency HVAC applications. You’ll work hands‑on across the full software development lifecycle while influencing design decisions that directly improve system performance, reliability, and usability.
You will collaborate closely with cross‑functional engineering teams, guide technical decisions, and mentor other developers. This is an in-person position based in our Turbocor Global Headquarter in Tallahassee, FL.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead the full software development lifecycle, including requirements, design, implementation, verification, documentation, deployment, and maintenance.
- Drive best‑practice engineering processes with clear documentation, test procedures, requirements traceability, and configuration management.
- Collaborate across hardware, software, and system engineering teams to design, verify, and troubleshoot complex embedded and hardware‑integrated systems.
- Develop primarily for embedded real‑time compressor control platforms, with secondary work on PC tools, automated testing systems, production support tools, and web technologies.
- Mentor engineering team members by sharing expertise, tools, and techniques to strengthen capability and technical depth.
- Travel up to 20%, domestic and international, for customer site testing and technical support.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
- 7–10 years of C/C++ application development, including debugging and troubleshooting.
- 6+ years of experience in embedded programming with C/C++.
- Experience using TI Code Composer, Eclipse, or similar IDEs.
- Proficiency with GIT or similar configuration management tools.
- Strong understanding of data structures, object‑oriented concepts, and database fundamentals.
- Ability and motivation to work across different environments, platforms, and business needs.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred
- Master’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
- Experience with Linux-based C/C++ development.
- Familiarity with oscilloscopes and communication protocol analyzers (I2C, SPI, SCI).
- Experience with multi‑core SoM boards, embedded Linux bring‑up, U‑Boot, and kernel drivers.
- Ability to develop in both Linux and Windows environments.
- Knowledge of software design patterns and their practical application.
- Experience presenting technical information to engineering teams and senior stakeholders.
