Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following. 

  • Responsible for testing on gas cycle test rigs and chiller systems related to high speed, oil-free refrigeration compressors, and for planning and execution of R&D Lab projects for system upgrades and expansion.
  • Duties: develop and direct experimental test programs; approve test requests from product design engineers; compressor performance/reliability related tests on test rigs and chillers; analyze data to determine if design meets functional/performance specifications; maintain/upgrade existing lab procedures and standard, and generate new ones as needed; preventive maintenance of all test equipment, including calibration; upgrade and improve existing lab equipment; planning projects for lab and chiller plant upgrades and expansions; lead lab projects from planning to acceptance testing and closeout; maintain timely and accurate documentation of all project deliverables, including but not limited to governance, design and validation tests; industry research for best practices and emerging technologies which apply to the lab operation; analyze supplier’s test equipment specifications and evaluate their capabilities in meeting current and future testing requirements; collaborate with technical teams in the evaluation and design of systems which support R&D test programs; evaluate the performance of existing systems, identify targeted upgrades, and prepare justification reports with recommendations; design and develop new test equipment to meet the requirements from product development road map; and develop system layout and detailed drawings and schematics consistent with the infrastructure upgrades.

Background & Skills

The ideal candidate possesses these skills. 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical)
  • 5 years work experience in a refrigeration/HVAC or combustion engine test lab, including renewable energy; high-speed data acquisition and post processing, instrumentation and test equipment design; LabVIEW and controller programming; and turbomachinery operation, as well as thermodynamic cycle analysis, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics simulation
  • Permanent U.S. work authorization
