Job Description

The Process Engineer is primarily responsible for design, development, implementation and support of assembly, test stations and other control equipment to drive improvements in quality and manufacturing in DTCs global manufacturing operations. This position will work closely with the software and process engineers to review requirements and implement test and machine controls for production machinery. Through application of Lean or Six Sigma methodologies, lead and facilitate the continuous improvement of methods and technology to reduce the time and material impact of test while improving upstream assembly controls for better quality product.  The person in this role will contribute to developing and driving DTC’s equipment methodology, developing/advising on DTC’s Manufacturing initiatives, as well as working with manufacturing teams on improvement efforts for day-to-day operations. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement process automation (hardware & software) to improve productivity, quality, equipment performance, energy consumption, and downtime reduction.
  • Develop and define concepts and manufacturing processes for, and as an integral part of, all new product introductions and product enhancement programs, using advanced engineering techniques such as DFM / DFA (Design for Manufacturability and Assembly), PFMEA, 8D, and Lean Six Sigma Methodology
  • Evaluate and implement innovative, cost effective, safe, manufacturing processes and techniques which will improve the effectiveness of the manufacturing operations and business systems
  • Develop manufacturing planning, initial tooling requirements and costs, capability requirements, control plans, and assessments, which facilitate the definition and specification of the manufacturing processes
  • Develop and implement manufacturing flow lines, work station layouts and organization, and station controls, which optimize value added operations, operating costs, and product / process quality
  • Provide technical expertise and leadership for the timely resolution of manufacturing process and product design problems. Serve as a resource for cause / effect analyses, investigations, statistical studies, and corrective action planning

Background & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing (Mechatronic manufacturing preferred)
  • Project Management, PLC, and CAD experience required
  • Knowledge and demonstrated ability to implement Lean-Six Sigma processes
  • Aptitude for mechanical/electrical application as related to equipment/processes
  • High proficiency in Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint), MiniTab and standard industry software

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree
  • Some experience with training needs assessment, design and delivery.
  • Familiarity with SAP ERP concepts
