As the Operations Supervisor, for the hydraulic centre based in Thornton NSW, you will be responsible for managing a small team and the day-to-day planning, organising and coordinating of the site's operational activities. 

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to, the following. 

  • Organise daily operational activities for the Hydraulic Centre.
  • Liaise with the Sales Team and other internal functions to determine pricing, establish delivery priorities, resolve supply issues and communicate with customers as appropriate, in a proactive and customer-focused manner.
  • Evaluate problems, determine and initiate appropriate actions and provide necessary information relative to product application, orders, delivery schedules and availability by maintaining close contact and a harmonious relationship with customers, suppliers and internal personnel.
  • Manage employees (including contractors) ensuring company policies are observed at all times.
  • Supervise the receipt and storage of equipment, material, merchandise and similar items in the Hydraulic Centre. Ensure the items are appropriately marked or tagged for identification purposes. Inventory and company assets to be maintained and accurately recorded.
  • Determine customer requirements on hose kits including safe configurations of each hose kit to meet quality standards. Assess the condition and completeness of the product used in the hose assemblies.
  • Manage the accurate picking and shipping of customer orders and prepare freight documents based on nominated carriers. As required investigate and respond to inquiries regarding distribution and shipping.
  • Ensure that all shipping documentation, packing slips and consignment notes are correctly prepared and stored.
  • Oversee the facilities management of the Hydraulic centre as required.
  • Ensure site compliance with Environmental, Health and Safety requirements and conduct site risk assessments within the centre.
  • Adhere to the safe practices at all times, including the operation and maintenance of machinery, equipment and tools.
  • Ensure that the work area, including storage racks are kept clean and tidy.
  • Maintain the onsite Hydraulics Centre quality system.

Background & Skills

The ideal candidate possesses these skills.

  • Experience running a sub-assembly and warehouse operation.
  • People management experience, managing a small team.
  • Experience dealing with fluid conveyance products and technical applications would be desirable.
  • The ability to operate machinery and read basic engineering drawings with a high attention to detail is essential.
  • Basic understanding of the Health and Safety regulations.
  • Computer literate in SAP or equivalent ERP package
