This role is responsible for supporting trade compliance activities with a primary focus on Preferential Origin. This role ensures that products meet applicable origin requirements to support preferential duty treatment, maintain compliance with regulatory standards, and enable duty savings opportunities. The position requires strong expertise in rules of origin analysis and supporting documentation.
This role works closely with procurement, engineering, and cross-functional stakeholders to validate origin qualification outcomes. This role acts as a subject matter expert in rules of origin, enabling compliant and defensible Preferential Origin qualification decisions across the organization.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead Preferential Origin qualification activities, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and internal compliance standards, ensuring all required documentation is properly collected, validated, and retained to support full regulatory compliance. Qualification agreements could be anywhere globally, including USMCA, EU/UK-based agreements, MERCOSUR, etc.
- Analyze Bills of Materials (BOMs) and supporting data to determine origin qualification
- Coordinate the collection and validation of supplier origin documentation (LTVDs), ensuring integrity, completeness, and audit readiness
- Create and provide necessary preferential origin certificate as requested by customers
- Assess completeness and accuracy of supplier declarations to ensure compliance with PO requirements and mitigate risk exposure
- Provide guidance to internal stakeholders on rules of origin, qualification outcomes, and potential compliance risks
- Collaborate cross-functionally with procurement, engineering, and suppliers to strengthen origin data quality
- Identify gaps or risks in origin data
- Contribute to duty optimization strategies by ensuring accurate origin qualification and effective use of free trade agreements
- Maintain complete and audit-ready records of origin documentation in accordance with applicable regulations and internal policies
- Support customs-related activities by ensuring documentation readiness
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, International Trade, Business, Law, or related field
- 3–5 years of experience in trade compliance, customs brokerage, or customs
- Experience in manufacturing or global supply chains preferred
- Strong knowledge of customs regulations, HS classification, and origin rules
- Familiarity with export control regimes (e.g. EAR, ITAR, EU Dual-Use)
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g. SAP) and customs management tools
- Strong analytical and documentation skills
