Job Description
The Head of Manufacturing Engineering is responsible for providing day to day direction to staff on manufacturing process issues including quality and capacity. A successful candidate will be directing engineering resources to support product transfers or new product startups, and new production equipment installations and qualifications. This position performs a wide variety of duties to ensure quality and reliability of products produced on all production lines. The Head of Manufacturing Engineering is a key member of the Management team that leads by example and promotes data driven analysis and decisions.
Job Responsibilities
- Collaborating with peers in other Danfoss Silicon Power locations to transfer and qualify new processes and equipment that is consistent and compliant with IATF 16949.
- Act as the Engineering focal point for the Utica site, collaborating with R&D, and Supply Chain value streams in other Danfoss Silicon Power locations.
- Provide day to day leadership and feedback to engineering staff, ensuring training and personal development for each employee
- Provide guidance and leadership to group that emphasizes continuous improvement, especially in quality and productivity
- Provide direction to staff to facilitate the transfer of new products from development, or other manufacturing production plants to Utica production. Provide input and support for the Design Review phase gate process.
- Champion Lean Manufacturing activities through the Danfoss Business Systems (DBS) methodologies
- Ability to travel internationally typically < 10%
Background & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, industrial engineering, or equivalent
- 3-5 years’ Engineering Management experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with Project Planning and Process Development
- Experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment is preferred
- Familiarity with electronics assembly equipment such as die attach, solder, cleaning, wire bond and gel filling
- Analytical and organizational mindset together with effectiveness in building and implementing new processes and procedures
- Proactive and dynamic approach in challenging existing processes and exploring new opportunities
- Ability to foster teamwork within the group in an open and communicative style
