The Senior Engineering Manager Incubation is a senior engineering leadership role responsible for the execution of new product development (NPD) activities within the Incubation organisation. He leads the engineering team that translates approved concepts into validated, market-ready subsystems, with primary accountability for the timely execution of NPD projects throughout the development process, including system architecture, mechanical and fluid design, controls and software development, and laboratory work covering system and prototype preparation and testing.
The Senior Engineering Manager Incubation works closely with business development, strategy and system architecture funtions to support idea generation, funnel prioritisation, product management, market and commercial strategy activities.
The salary range for this position is 120,000 - 160,000.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead the timely execution of all approved NPD projects within the Incubation portfolio from concept release through design, prototyping, validation, and the engineering deliverables required at the point of handover to the established Danfoss product organisation.
- Lead, develop, and retain the Incubation engineering and laboratory team, comprising approximately seven to ten direct or indirect reports at full build-out, including Mechanical and Fluid Design Engineers, Controls and Software Engineers, and the Laboratory team.
- Establish a high-performance engineering culture characterised by technical rigour, delivery discipline, and intellectual honesty. Conduct performance management, professional development, and succession planning for engineering team members.
- Serve as the principal technical authority for the engineering execution of concepts within the Incubation portfolio, providing technical judgement and oversight across system architecture, mechanical and fluid design, controls and software, and validation activities. Establish and uphold engineering standards, design practices, and technical review processes within the Incubation engineering team.
- Provide engineering feasibility input, effort estimation, and technical risk assessment. Contribute technical perspectives to idea generation activities.
- Establish and maintain working relationships with the manufacturing engineering leadership at Danfoss facilities in Mexico, the United States, France, Singapore, and China to ensure early and effective consideration of Design-for-Manufacturability (DFM) in NPD activities. Partner with the established Danfoss product organisation to support effective engineering handover of concepts reaching market readiness.
- Establish comprehensive test set-up of data center liquid cooling server rack that suites to test impact of Danfoss product offering and to prove impact on customer systems.
What We're Looking For
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline. A Master's degree or PhD is strongly preferred.
• A minimum of fifteen (15) years of professional engineering experience, including at least five years in roles with formal leadership of multidisciplinary engineering teams of comparable scale and complexity.
• Deep technical expertise in thermal management, fluid systems engineering, or related disciplines, with substantial direct experience in liquid cooling, refrigeration, fluid power, or comparable physical-systems domains.
• Demonstrated track record of leading NPD projects through the full development cycle from concept release to validated, market-ready outcomes, with verifiable delivery against scope, cost, and schedule commitments.
• Direct experience with data center liquid cooling architectures prefered.
• High flexibility for operating under high uncertainty and hands-on mentality during product development process and lab work required.
• >20% Global travel expected
