In line with this commitment, we are on the lookout for a skilled Drive Application Expert to enhance our VACON® software development team. You will play a critical role in delivering high-quality features that meet our business objectives and address technical challenges for our global customers.


•    Do you enjoy using your knowledge of industrial drive applications to solve customer problems?
•    Are you skilled at connecting drive systems with customer operations through PLC programming and can assist on PLC programming?
•    Do you have basic knowledge on control theory for grid and motor applications and can interpret implementation in C to understand detailed behavior of VACON® drive in customer application?
•    Do you excel at providing hands-on technical support, ensuring that drive systems are properly integrated and functioning at their best within customer facilities?

Job Responsibilities

 

As a Drive Application Expert, you will play a crucial role within our VACON® software development team. Your main responsibility will be to provide expert-level support, troubleshoot application and power conversion control -specific issues, and work collaboratively to fine-tune our systems for peak performance with customers and internal stakeholders.

While our preferred location for this position is in the thriving tech community of Vaasa, we may consider placement in our Tampere office.

Core Responsibilities:


•    Act as the primary R&D level technical support contact for software-related questions and issues of industrial drive systems, while being supported by a knowledgeable and collaborative team.
•    Work closely with internal teams, including technical support, commissioning engineers, and R&D colleagues, to ensure seamless problem resolution, system integration, and a collective approach to tackling complex challenges.
•    Display a high degree of motivation and autonomy in resolving technical cases in the field of PLC drive applications and power conversion control, with the reassurance that a supportive team is always there to back you up.
•    Engage in proactive knowledge sharing and leverage collective expertise to enhance personal growth and the team's overall success.

Background & Skills

 

Essential Qualifications:


•    Ability to provide R&D level technical support for software-related issues in drive systems.
•    Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to operate autonomously and make decisions in high-stakes scenarios.
•    Strong communication and collaboration skills, capable of working effectively within a multidisciplinary team and with various internal stakeholders.
•    Proven experience with PLC programming (IEC 61131-3) and a strong understanding of drive applications in industrial settings.
•    Basic understanding of C programming; additional willingness to explore an existing codebase is advantageous.
•    A bachelor's or master’s in electrical engineering, control systems engineering, automation engineering, or a related technical field.
•    Proficiency in English; basic communication skills in Swedish or Finnish is advantageous.
