Job Description

We are currently seeking an HR Generalist for our facility in Van Wert, OH. The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for managing various Human Resources specialties within the function and employee relations activities.  Analytical and project management skills and ability to communicate effectively with employees, supervisors or outside personnel required.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following.

  • Provide HR guidance and direction to ensure consistent administration of policies and procedures across the facility. Work with business groups to develop talent, provide counsel and support to resolve interpersonal conflicts and employee relation issues.
  • Manages a variety of HR records related to FMLA, Short-term Disability and Worker's Compensation.  Contacts employees in other departments and groups to obtain or exchange information or expedite processing.
  • Assist with hourly hiring and staffing needs from interviewing to employee orientation and onboarding. Gathers hourly staffing needs and posts jobs internally. Works with managers to establish offers and coordinate moves.
  • Assists with employee investigations and complaints as needed.
  • Responsible for coordinating and partnering to drive employee engagement efforts.  This includes new hire onboarding, interviews, roundtables, leading various employee committee(s), recognition events, community events, and other meetings as needed.
  • Provides excellent customer service and administrative support to all levels of employees as well as external customers. Primary contact for walk-in inquiries and administration of local visitation procedures
  • Drives, coaches, and directs employees on applicable policies and policy changes.
  • Tracks and audits the time and attendance system for accuracy and completeness. Provides direction to supervisors when codes need to be changed or updated.
  • Lead for various HR functions as assigned such as internal job postings, onboarding, security badge management, HRMS data entry, etc.
  • Supports facility safety initiatives and encourages communication and participation of personnel to further identify and reduce/eliminate potential hazards.  Enforces applicable safety and health guidelines when necessary.

Background & Skills

  • Bachelors degree required
  • 3+ years Human Resources experience
  • Specialized knowledge of the interpretation of laws, regulations and standards, and enforcement agencies for equal employment opportunities, safety, wage and hour, unemployment, workers’ compensation and labor law.
  • Excellent communication and employee relations skills required
  • Excellent PC skills required: Microsoft Applications and Outlook
