Job Description
As Machining Technician, position is required to develop, support, and improve and develop new and existing machining processes by working with the Front Line Supervisor, Operators, Maintenance and Process Engineers. Trouble shooting problems with: programs, tooling, and mechanical issues on the equipment that affect quality, cost, delivery, safety, machine up-time and utilization.
Job Responsibilities
Significant strength in learning agility, ability to apply learnings, and retain new techniques, concepts and procedures required for continuously improving products, processes, services, deliveries and overall quality.
Ability to read and understand blue prints, control plans, routers, job instructions and measurement tools.
- Must meet or exceed all quality standards set by the customers and individual Value Stream. Must also maintain the quality standards defined for the entire facility
- Maintain flexibility to be able to move from work area to work area in order to meet the delivery expectations of the customers and the productivity goals for the plant.
- Able to work efficiently to establish standards without constant supervision.
- Promotes cooperation and “team oriented” work environment at all times under the direction of the FLS
- Creates/Maintains a safe work environment and practices safety for himself and others at all times
- Must maintain a clean a well-organized work environment and support our 5s Program
- Assist in development/implementation of new equipment, technologies and systems
Assist in technical training of operators on how to properly operate equipment and supporting processes.
Background & Skills
CAM Programming: Position to deliver an qualified CNC program to any CNC/NC machine (error and edit free).
Machine Utilization & Optimization: Position responsible for all programs, tooling, operator instructions, setup sheets, operator safety rules, gauging for the entire process. (machine gross utilization, efficiency, and cost effectiveness)
CAD and EdgeCam: Employee must shows some familiarity with and be to use CAD and EdgeCam computer programs.
Cost/Expenses: Manage overall machining cost: monthly tool expenses to budget, baseline, and target cost reduction initiatives.
Cost of Quality: Manage cost of non-conformance (CONC), rework, rejects, customer returns
Preferred qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Required commitment to enter company sponsored (2 year) machining certification program at company selected local community college. Program must be completed within (3) years of accepting the position, classes to be completed on employee’s time and to acceptable grading criteria defined by college.
