Danfoss AAIM Controls specializes in the design and manufacture of power controls, system automation solutions, and embedded microprocessor control products for equipment in the industrial refrigeration industry, and has an opening for an Applications Engineer. The role of the Applications Engineer is to provide industrial refrigeration technical support to design and project engineering teams, as well as assist the inside and external sales team in providing applications expertise to support Industrial Refrigeration (IR) contractors and OEMs. The scope of responsibility will include providing advanced refrigeration knowledge to support the quoting of projects and designing Programmable Logic Control (PLC) based supervisory control systems. distributed control systems with standard microprocessor or PLC-based control panels. Communication with stakeholders outside of the organization will be to Sales Managers, external Sales Representatives, Refrigeration Contractors, OEMs, and Vendors.
Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Provide strong industrial refrigeration knowledge in support of sales quotations for an Engineer-To-Order environment and control system design (Project Engineering)
• Coordinate resolution for technical issues with customers which are primarily industrial refrigeration contractors by leveraging internal and external resources
• Provide additional support to Inside Sales by preparing quotations for Power Panels, Distributed Control Systems, and PLC Control Systems for Industrial Refrigeration Applications
• Support sales team with applications expertise and potential customer meetings to discuss quoted projects
• Provide input to R&D for upcoming new product platforms, or for product updates
• Support continuous improvement in the quotation preparation process with tools like EPLAN or others
• Prepare/conduct presentations for internal training, or for customer meetings
• Visit contractors or OEMs occasionally with the Sales team to secure business and/or customer training
• Gain market intelligence (market situation/competition) and communicate to the relevant stakeholders
• Participate in local industry associations such as RETA to increase knowledge and improve visibility of Danfoss

Basic Minimum Skills/Experience Required
• Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Mechanical Engineering
• Strong knowledge of Industrial Refrigeration Systems, applications and equipment
• Ability to read and interpret refrigeration piping & instrumentation diagrams
• 3-5 years industry related experience in applications engineering in industrial refrigeration
• MS Office suite
• Strong communication skills
• A solid track record of performance
• An ongoing desire to learn and seek out new information and technologies.
• A stable job history
• Preferred experience:
o An understanding of:
The Industrial Refrigeration market, including major customers, competitors, equipment suppliers, etc.
Familiarity with electrical schematics prepared in AutoCAD or similar software
SCADA/HMI graphics software.
Network communications & architecture.
Instrumentation & Controls/Sensors, and associated signals (4-20mA/0-10V, etc.).
Control voltage circuits: 24V-120V.
3-phase power: Low to medium voltage (220V-4140V) and associated components; Reactors/Drives/Soft starters/Transformers, etc.
