As an Electrical Engineer Intern, you’ll play a hands-on role in supporting the laboratory systems that help bring innovative products to life. Your work will contribute to reliable testing, accurate data collection, and the smooth operation of critical engineering equipment.

 

This is an opportunity to gain real-world experience with electrical controls, instrumentation, data acquisition systems, and maintenance processes while working alongside experienced engineers and technicians. You won’t just observe, you’ll help solve problems, improve systems, and support meaningful engineering work.

 

You’ll join a collaborative, multicultural team focused on technical excellence, continuous improvement, and advancing laboratory capabilities through automation, maintenance, and emerging technologies.

What You’ll Be Doing

 

  • Support the design, maintenance, and documentation of laboratory electrical control systems, ensuring drawings and technical records remain accurate and up to date using EPLAN.

  • Help configure, troubleshoot, and maintain instrumentation and data acquisition systems that generate the high-quality test data used for engineering decisions.

  • Maintain equipment records, calibration schedules, preventive maintenance plans, and spare parts information within the CMMS, helping improve reliability and efficiency.

  • Assist with equipment inspections, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs, working closely with engineers, technicians, and controls specialists.

  • Contribute to a safe and efficient laboratory environment by following safety, quality, and environmental standards while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

What We're Looking For

 

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering.

  • Foundational knowledge of electrical control systems, instrumentation, industrial test equipment, and engineering measurements.

  • Understanding of analog sensor signals (4-20 mA, 1-5 V), data acquisition concepts, and test system fundamentals.

  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues, learn new technologies quickly, and work effectively in a collaborative engineering environment.

  • Available to work onsite, up to 40 hours per week during the summer and 20 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters.
